MS Word Tip So you are now the proud owner of the latest and
greatest word processing software - Microsoft Word 2007. It will do
wonderful things. BUT, one thing it will not do is open in earlier
versions of Word. That's right - if you send a Word 2007 document to
someone who has an earlier version of Word, they cannot read your
document.
Word 2007 has a file extension of .docx, while earlier versions of Word have file extension of .doc *********** Problem: You are the owner of Microsoft Word 2003, or earlier, and keep receiving Word 2007 documents that you cannot open. Is there anything you can do? Yes! Microsoft has written a conversion utility that will
convert Word 2007 documents into earlier Word format. However, If
the document uses any of the newer functions in Word 2007, you will
not be able to completely edit the document, but you will be able to
read it. Click on Instructions and follow the steps listed
there.
