The student chosen to be "In Focus" this month is:

 Alan Gold

Alan's family life consists of his wife Charlotte, and 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren. Alan's son Craig, an attorney himself, is Dean of an Internet Law School (Concord) which is based out of California. Alan's daughter Ashley is the Mother of his two adorable grandchildren and she and family currently live in Chicago. Ashley is in charge of a Safe Kids Program in Chicago. Completing the family are Charlottes two cats.

Many of you may have met Alan and Charlotte; 33 years ago they moved from California to Hot Springs and purchased The Basket House which was a gift shop on Central Avenue. Two years ago, they decided to retire and enjoy some of their hobbies with the extra time on their hands.

For Alan, that meant he was able to pursue an interest in photography and photo editing. A friend had mentioned the Senior Net Classes and how much he enjoyed them and he encouraged Alan to check it out. Alan started with the Level One class and followed it up with Photo Editing, which he has taken twice. In fact, Alan says he has enjoyed the classes so much, he has taken every class offered and many he has taken twice, just in case he had missed something the first go around. He also made great mention of the fact that the manuals have been written so precisely that following up at home has been so easy and fun to do.

Like some of the seniors taking classes, Alan did use a computer at work, but never for fun. He is having a great time now and spends his fun hours working on his photos and keeping up with his children and grandchildren on line. He and Charlotte are now able to travel more, and of course Alan is able to use his editing skills to fine tune those photos.
